Many family details have been confirmed from Agnes' Death certificate[1855] giving information for husband, children and names of her parents. It also confirmed her own birth place to have been St. Quivox Ayrs. Agnes and William lived the latter years of their lives at Failford Alms Houses where Agnes outlived William by 10 years, and died of 'Natural Decay' aged 90 - 2 October 1855. Informant - Son William
1841 and 1851 census at Failford Hospital shows Agnes as being Dancing Teachers widow age 75 and 84* respectively.
According to details on her Death Cert.(1855 ) Agnes was born in St Quivox(1766). Parents William Currie(wright) and Elizabeth Reid. Details of a Margaret also born in St Quivox(1774) to William Currie/Elizabeth Reid suggests she was most likely sister to Agnes.

OPR AYR: 'William Greg lawful son to James Greg Master of Manners and Janet Henderson his spouse born 20th April 1766 and baptised 29th April'.
It is believed that our William is the son of James Greg. They are both known to have been 'Dancing Masters' and 'Master of Manners'. It is William who is credited as being the Dance Master to ROBERT BURNS at the Bachelors Club Tarbolton in the late 1770's. A fiddle said to be the one used by William at the time was presented to the Scottish National Trust in 1997 by a Major John Weir who acquired the fiddle from a local source in Tarbolton.
We have an OPR death record of a William Greg of this period who died as a boy, AYR :'William Greg son of James Greg aged 10 yrs and 3 months died of fever buried 1 December 1776'. This is about 4 months younger than the William in question and may have been son to another James Greg.?
OPR TARBOLTON: 'William Gregg from Failford Hospital was interred at Tarbolton 19th May 1841'. First census in Scotland JUNE 1841 just too late.
William's age would have been 75 when he died (assuming the birth details/parents accredited to him are correct[1997ADG]).
William's name was spelled 'Gregg' when he died.
William's son John[P457] inherited the 'Gregg Fiddle'
