OPR AYR: 'Jean Greg lawful daughter to James Greg Dancing Master and Janet Henderson his spouse born 8th September 1761 and baptised 9th September'. This Jean is probably the Jean Gregg[P380] who married William Brown[P382] C.1779
We know that Jeans father was a Land Surveyer as stated on the birth record of her son William Wallace Brown. It is suggested by Matthew Greig[Gifnock] that Jean may have been daughter to James Greg[P437] and Janet Henderson[P438][F142-Ayr]. Likely in that two children to this marriage named James and Janet.
James was known as a Master of Manners and a Dance Master but Jeans father was described as Land Surveyer on the birth record of her son William Wallace.
Jean had died by 1798 when a Petition raised on behalf of her daughter Janet DELLA Brown described Jean as the late spouse of William Brown
